Spring Swatter!!

Do our cats, Kai and Pukini love new toys, and so I got one toy out recently. This toy is called, Whisker City Spring Swatter Chirping Cat Toy with Catnip. As soon as I got this toy out of the paper bag, I needed help to have my husband, cut the plastic part off of the toy. As soon as Dave cut the plastic part off, our cats, Kai and Pukini were so excited with big eyes looking at it, and even Pukini got up in the reclining chair to take a look, and Kai was over near Dave on the floor, looking at the toy. As soon as he cut the plastic zip ties, it had this red like spiral toy, and a weighted circular base, with a ball and a feather on top of the bird toy for batting at. So the toy, than went BOING, and popped up, and I puled the tab on the side of the ball, to have the bird make these loud bird chirp sounds.

Unfortunately, Kai and Pukini didn’t bat the ball, or the feathers. I accidentally, picked up the base of it, and it freaked out Kai, and he hid under our table in the living room. So it was basically a dud of a toy for our boys, and like I always say, just because it didn’t work out for our cats, doesn’t mean your cat(s) won’t like it. I liked the spring action, but to get them interested, I had put catnip on the base and they sniffed at that, and than I put some cat treats in the middle of it. I would have the spring coiled part of the toy sway, or spring back and forth, and than their heads, or neck almost got stuck, after getting the catnip and treats. That concerned me a lot, because I didn’t want them to freak out, get hurt and run away. Thankfully that didn’t happen. I thought with the feathers, and ball like toy, they would be interested, but no they weren’t.

I am not sure what the spiral part is made out of, but I wished it would have been a toy, that didn’t get their head or neck almost stuck in the coiled spiral part. We think it’s made out of a steel like spiral part of the toy, and just needed something more stiff, but as a safer product. I liked the ball, and the colorful feathers, but that was it.

Its A Bird, It’s A Plane, It’s Flappy Bird!!

I had forgotten that I had this Potaroma Sparrow Flapping Bird, on my cat wish list, and an acquaintance Paula told me about it. So I couldn’t wait to order it. Dave got the Flappy Bird out of its box and both cats, Kai and Pukini played with it briefly. This flapping bird toy is so cute, and realistic looking, and we loved the colors and the flapping of the wings. We than thought let’s charge it, and we did! The nice thing is, there is no batteries required, and this toy received, 4.5 out of 5 stars, and lots of comments. I took a close up photo of the flappy bird, so you could see it up close. What I really liked was in this pouch area, it has catnip inside it, and our cats love cat nip. After charging the bird, we waited for the boys to sniff, bat, snuggle, paw, bite, hunt, wrestle with it, and more. The cat(s)were excited to play with it, and what great exercise, and what cat(s) don’t love new toys. There is this mechanism, where the velcro is in back of the bird, there is an off and on switch to turn the bird on, and it has this battery and this motor, to have the Flappy Bird move his body and flap his wings. As soon as I turned it on, I put it on the tile, or carpeted or area rug floors, and it started flapping its wings. It has a pretty loud chirping sound to it, and say you stop playing with it, it stays quiet, and doesn’t move, until played with again.

Also, this Flappy Bird, didn’t come with a wand, so you can hook it on the back of the birds head, and if you need a wand to hook it on the bird, get any kind from amazon, or any place that sells toy wands to put cat toys on. I had played with Flappy Bird, two ways: Don’t hook the bird to a wand, and don’t turn it on. Our cats got really excited and wanted to play and grab it, and more, or you can do this, put wand and hook it on the bird, and than turn on it’s motor where the velcro part is, turn there is a on and off switch, and just watch it chirp and chirp, and flutter it’s wings. As soon as I did this the cats, played and played, sniffed, hunted, jumped, pounced and more. Speaking of using a wand on Flappy Bird, well I had a nervous incident with Kai, the bird was on the wand, and I am swinging and swinging it, above his head, and than would drop it loudly, thumping it on the floor. Well that made Kai run under our coffee table in the living room, and he was to nervous to play with it, and stayed under the table for a few minutes. He still wants to play with it, but I just need to be a little careful how I have it thump on the ground, and realistically, this was a big, heavy bird to Kai, and he ran for cover.

Just a few things to add: This Flappy Bird, is perfect and fun for our blog, but for cat(s) Birthdays, and Christmas and more Next it keeps your cat(s) busy, and to be on the their toes, and has a loud realistic chirp to it, to get you to want to bat, bite, chew, and chase! Last this bird, is nice and soft, to play, and cuddle with, and it’s a good deal for close to seventeen dollars. When you want a realistic looking bird toy for your cat(s) to play with, look no further than: Potaroma Sparrow Flapping Bird. Chirp Chirp!
